![]() ![]() ![]() We took out a compound near a village, after some time we go back to the village for a pit stop and it's vacant like everybody left in a hurry huh that's weird but at least we can crash at the inn on some comfy beds I didn't read the module so I'm not sure how much my dm changed things we were playing the temples of elemental evil. Omg that's how our first 5e campaigned got derailed. Tl dr I didnt read what a bag of magic beans does, so my players spawned a Mummy Lord. They still have 10 more of these damned beans. My players have released an ancient evil upon the city and all I could do was watch. Mfw when I realised the just spawned a gigantic pyramid where a mummy lord resides. If you know what those beans do, you know by now that this was not good. ![]() So I let them plant the bean on their Jar of Dirt.ĩ2 on the percentile dice. I thought "Hey, the beans are basically grenades or if planted, they spawn mushrooms, fountains and campfires. What could possibly go wrong?" However, my mistake was not reading it all the way through. Spoilers: They were not.Ģ: When my player asks if they were magical, that was the first time I thought of looking up the item. I thought it was just a normal bag of beans. I like reading about history irl so I thought, "Oh some people replace organs with other things for ritualistic purposes", so it didn't seem off. ![]() Which is where I make two crucial lapses in judgement.ġ: While I was prepping, the campaign specifically said that the bag of beans was placed where the heart should be. Naturally, one of my players finds the bag of beans. I was fine with that, I found that funny. Including his head for shits and giggles. My players have a high perception and investigation passives, so the mummy that was originally supposed to be hidden was easily found and because my players are thorough, they looted every nook and cranny of that mummy.
